Becoming S.M.E. (Becoming Me)

Image
There are moments in business that feel big. And then there are moments that feel… quiet. Almost ordinary. The kind you could walk right past if you didn’t know what to look for. This is one of those moments. It started with a dinner invitation. Sitting in Sydney, Australia, around a table with entrepreneurs from around the world, sharing stories, laughter, and that unspoken understanding that everyone there is building something meaningful. At the table, something unexpected happened. Ali mentioned — casually, almost in passing — that I was near the top of the leaderboard in the program. New members. Momentum. Movement. But the real moment? It happened after dinner. We took a group photo — one of those happy, slightly uncoordinated moments where everyone squeezes in, smiles, and captures something you know you’ll look back on later. And then, just like that, the group shifted. People moved. Conversations changed. And there was this small, almost invisible windo...

When Your First Member Becomes Your First Narrative :)

Something really special happened this week. I recorded my first ever unscripted, unedited, let-the-camera-roll interview. No script. No retakes. Just a conversation. And I couldn't imagine a better person to share that moment with than my very first client feedback form respondent — the incredible Jenine Lillian. If you don’t know Jenine yet, you should. Not only is she one of the most talented artists I’ve ever met, but Jenine has this rare gift of making every person she meets feel genuinely important. The kind of presence where you leave a conversation feeling lighter, seen, and somehow more yourself. Jenine's work speaks for itself, but what really stands out is the heart behind it. Jenine is deeply rooted in: Self-care that actually feels human Building community that welcomes everyone And my personal favourite — networking for introverts Which, as someone who spends a lot of time in rooms where “networking” can feel overwhelming, was a conversation I...

The Waiting Room Will Always Be Full :)

Image
I just came out of a six-hour webinar. Six hours. Hosted by Joe Gannon — someone who worked with Ali long before the YouTube millions, before LinkedIn presence, before the global stage. Back when it started with a cheeky Nando’s and a conversation. And now? Joe invites Ali as keynote speaker to Building Authority. Full circle moments everywhere. But here’s what struck me most. Yes, we talked about: Making your personal brand unmistakably you. Building a LinkedIn profile so clear a stranger understands what you do in seconds. Designing online courses and communities that actually work. Speaking LinkedIn fluently — understanding the data, the authority, the versatility of content. All the practical things. Frameworks. Systems. Positioning. Authority. But somehow — in the middle of all that practicality — something emotional surfaced. My why. Not the polished version. Not the “CFO / CEO for Solopreneurs” headline. The real one. I don’t want anyone who wo...

The Unexpected Hobby (And the Third Quarterly Quest)

Image
This morning felt like one of those quiet wins. We had a guest speaker inside PTYA / LBA — and I had this full-circle moment. Because before Lifestyle Business Academy… there was Part-Time YouTuber Academy. And I am so glad I started there. It taught me how Circle works. How to show up to coaching. How to attend workshops without feeling awkward. How to exist inside an online community that is actually… alive. It prepared me. And just like Ali said — there would likely be one thing from PTYA that changed everything. For me? UltraSpeaking. I cannot speak highly enough of that community (pun fully intended). They offered two full weeks of free courses over Christmas. Two weeks. For free. While the rest of my house was in sleep-in mode — no school, no commitments, cozy holiday vibes — I packed on my Canadian winter gear, turned on my camera, and showed up. Every. Single. Day. And every single person there? Kind. Encouraging. Understanding. Genuine. It’s one of the sa...

A Birthday Letter :)

Image
Today we're going to be writing for the blog, and it's not just any post, but it's the post just a few hours before the official start to my birthday :) I'm in my office in my detached garage, heater is on, layered blankets keeping me warm while the weather calls for snow. I've been in Ali Abdaal's Lifestyle Business Academy for 15 days. It's been packed! From meeting my international squad mates, to getting use to my main coach Nathan in Australia, to Angus's coaching from Britain, to Ali and Izzy rocking up to the camera to coach from Hong Kong. It's been all I can do to stay afloat: both emotionally and physically. Afterall, it's not everyday that you get invited to stay at the coaching table with millionaires, with literally zero. So why is today of all days so special? Because today is the day I graduate to Momentum :) This might not mean a lot to readers just as is, but what this means to me is validation that all of the pre-work from first...

The 4:00 AM Moment

Image
When the world is quiet, notifications are silent, and making tea is the most complicated task. Just you, your thoughts, and the work you’ve been building day after day. This was one of those moments. Quietly, in the background, something incredible has been unfolding. Video by video. Reflection by reflection. And this moment seemed to hold all of it. February 2nd is my official onboarding day into the Lifestyle Business Academy . I haven’t even officially started yet. And yet: I’ve already been given a few opportunities to engage. The first one was simple on paper: Write your introductory post. But anyone who’s ever stepped into a room filled with builders, creators, and entrepreneurs knows: that first post matters. It’s the beginning of potential lifelong business friendships. A legendary first impression. A quiet “this is who I am” offered to people who might one day walk alongside you. The exact moment I saw it, I knew. I had to record. Because this is the moment. And here’s ...

Day 188: The Shout-Out I Didn’t Expect :)

Image
Sometimes the most meaningful wins don’t arrive as numbers or milestones: they arrive as a moment. If this story feels familiar, it’s because it traces back to that very first feedback form I ever received: the one that arrived during torrential rain, flood warnings, and a highway closure separating my family while my dad was recovering in a specialized heart hospital. That feedback mattered deeply to me then. And now it came back around in the most unexpected way. During a live Zoom session, the same person I respect immensely took a moment to say, publicly: “Someone here (hint, hint) is my bookkeeper.” That was it. That was the sentence. I’m not usually a big chatter during webinars, but I couldn’t help myself: huge smiles, both in the chat and right there on camera. One of those moments where your heart just knows: this is why I’m doing this. The emails followed shortly after. Same day. And soon after that: my very first five-star Google review . Not because I asked. Not becau...
